Important Information for Members

Dear Friends,
The library has asked us for our financial support on a new item for the library called a Privacy Booth.
This page is for your information.
There is no request for you to vote to approve any funding at this time.
The Executive Committee would like to present this request from the library and allow our membership time to consider this request, ask questions, or provide comments.
If you choose to submit a question or comment, the Executive Committee will consolidate your questions and comments. We will ask Clare to answer the questions or respond to the comments. Therefore, your feedback will be valuable.
The executive committee will present this to you for a vote later and only after the membership feels informed about the nature of this request.
A valid vote depends on an informed voter.
The Friends have historically supported any request from the library as an up or down vote. The Executive Committee, given that this request represents about two years of our fundraising, would like membership to consider whether partial funding is appropriate. You may comment on this below as well.
The form at the bottom of this page has a place for you to indicate how you would like to receive answers to all questions submitted by our membership. You can select to have an in-person meeting or request answers provided by email or as a question-and-answer page on this website (or both!).
The Request
The library requests financial assistance from the Friends to purchase a privacy booth.
The specific model is the TalkBox Double Booth (shown below).

Proposed Location for The Privacy Booth
The privacy booth will be located on the mezzanine of the library. When you arrive at the top of the front stairs, the privacy booth will be in the corner to your right.
This location will not restrict the function of the fire sprinkler system. This location will not restrict movement out of the elevator or on the mezzanine’s right side.

The Need
Every day, the library turns away people who are looking for a private space to:
- Conduct an interview
- Take a phone call
- Have a telehealth appointment
- Conduct a Zoom meeting
- Tutor or mentor a student
Trustee Endorsement
The library trustees have reviewed and vetted this request.
Moreover, Clare and the trustees would like to move forward with this even without the full support of The Friends. Of course, any support from The Friends will be appreciated.

Includes shipping, assembly, and setup.
Note that our current bank account balance is $22,130.
This request is significant in that, as noted above, it represents about two years of fundraising.
